Synopsis

Cancer Council Australia is Australia’s peak cancer-awareness organization. Their aim is to promote cancer awareness, prevention and to conduct cancer research. As a non-profit organization, CCA relies heavily on funding from the public, be it from corporate entities to individuals. Funds are raised through a variety of different forms, and this task focuses on the forms of licensing agreements and cause related marketing.

The assigned task involved developing a model that would assess third parties on the basis of financial viability, quality assurance and brand alignment. Additionally, requirements included the development of an assurance program as well as necessary provisions in contracts relating to royalties payable by third parties.

Multiple factors apply to each section of our assessment model, and these have been identified in our project.

Testing of financial viability focuses on the review of financial aspects in relation with third parties. To address this, our model involves analysis of company financial reports as well as industry average comparisons utilizing ratios.

With quality assurance assessment, focus was placed upon manufacturing and quality control procedures. Aspects assessed for this included factors such as manufacturing inputs, employee training, product testing and sales analysis.

Brand alignment has a larger emphasis on social and environmental aspects in comparison to financial aspects of third parties. As such, assessment of this issue analysed effects on public relations and reputation rather than economical factors.

Our assurance program outlines key points necessary for CCA to observe in order to prevent the exploitation of CCA’s contractual agreements. Included in this program are contractual provisions essential to the success of the program.

The proposal we have developed addresses the issues CCA encounters when dealing with potential partners. Analysis and development of the key ideas of our proposal may mature into common business practices in the future.

  • Overall, I felt your report was pretty good. It covered the topic of the challenge and provided a good set of guidelines for decisions makers to follow when evaluating proposals. However, I feel it lacked in providing a definite model for providing a yes/no answer to a proposal. In addition, I felt you guys went a bit off track in the Assurance part of your report.
